Forward Tee # 18

There is some confusion about which tee the ladies should be using on the eighteenth hole. Some time ago I spoke with Jodie Sanders who does the course ratings for ladies and we talked about the location of the proposed new forward tee and the fact that many of the ladies were already using this area. I gave her the new yardage and she has since changed the official rating to 70.5 from 70.9. The slope has changed from 126 to 122. She says that all the ladies in the club should play from this tee because this is the tee that reflects the new rating and if the ladies are playing from different tees, their handicaps are out of balance with each other. As well, people entering their scores on the NSGA website will be subject to the new rating.
From a course perspective, this makeshift tee does not meet the standards for a teeing ground that we should present to the public.
It is uneven and there is no opportunity to move the tee blocks around. If we were to permanently move the tee blocks here, it would be impossible to keep grass on the area.
As a compromise I have asked Heather to make a set of red tee blocks for the new tee location. This will become the “members tee” until a proper tee can be constructed. We will keep the yellow tee blocks in the old location for the general public to use (this represents the yardage on the scorecard.) Once the new forward tee is constructed, the yellow blocks will be moved there permanently.
